These are some of the first formulative recordings from the Shep and Me project, originally released as a self-titled cassette in 2001.

The selections presented here were remastered in 2011 for a limited edition lathe-cut 7" released by Lighten Up Sounds.

"In celebration of the 10th Anniversary of its initial release on cassette,
Lighten Up Sounds is proud to present this limited edition lathe cut 7" containing newly re-mastered selections from the maiden voyage self-titled "Shep and Me" album. These raw recordings captured Matthew Himes in Austin TX 2001, laying down linear/non linear plunkers and no-fidelity folk-brut jewels. Pot and pan clatter, blown out mouth harp cut-ups, suitcase percussion, hand me down ukelele, bicycle handle-bar trumpet, skipping records, AM radio static, heavy-handed tape manipulations, and generally stomping around the house like a crazy person while the beans bubbled on the range.

Documented using the beloved "bounce" method to a series of boom-boxes, these fledgling jammers have finally been grooved to wax more than a decade later for posterity. Ultra-limited edition of 30 7" records, cut at 33rpm to high quality clear poly-carbonate with black and white labels re-creating the original album artwork. Comes double bagged in audiophile anti-static inner and crystal polyethylene outer sleeves w/ two sided red vellum insert. Crude and beautiful. This is how it all started."
